Week 3

What is the major conflict in your independent reading? Who is involved in the conflict? Where is the conflict occuring? Why is the conflict occuring? Is the conflict internal (happening inside of someone's head) or external (someone else is causing the conflict?) How does the conflict mirror real life? What can we learn from the conflict.

Your response should include mulitple responses with detail.

  1. The major conflict in the book I'm reading is that Aislinn is being "stalked" by the Summer King and doesn't know what he wants. She keeps ignoring & running away from him, making him follow her in school & sometimes around town. Aislinn, Seth, and Kenann are involved in this conflict. The conflict is occuring at her school, Seth's house, and around town. This conflict is occuring because Kenann thinks that Aislinn is the one that is meant to be the Summer Queen with him but she doesn't not realize that until later. The conflict is happening both internally and externally. This can mirror real life because people can think that another person is the one and follow/stalk that person like Kenann did. What you can learn from the conflict is that instead of stalking someone to see who they are, actually confront them and talk, get to know one another.

  2. Well I started a new book & the major conflict is Anne didn't know she was a princess but, when she found out she wasn't used to the "royal" lifestyle. The conflict is occurring you could say at school because, it's effecting her grades & he social life. It's internal because, she has so much going on in her mind she can't really focus on school. Well I don't really think i could learn anything from the conflict because, i'm not royalty 7 I can't really relate to her dilemma.

  3. The major conflict in the book Looking for alaska is that Pudge(miles, pudge is his nickname and is his name through out the book) is in love with his friend Alaska who he has known for about 4-5 months now. Alaska has a boyfriend and doesnt really say how she feels about pudge. The people who are involved in this problem is of course the obviouse Pudge and Alaska but also Alaskas boyfriend Jake and there friends Tukami(nickname) Lisa and The colonel(also a nickname). The whole conflict is taking place at there school which is a private school at which they all stay at. The whole reason this is happening is because Pudge is in love with Alaska. The problem thats occuring is both internal and external. This is because Pudge thinks about it all the time and try to make a plan by himself on what to do about it but at the same time the whole group besides Alaska and Jake knows about it and trys to help him. The only thing we can really learn from this is heartbeak or love we'll find out at the end and this problem does often happen a boy likes a girl a girl doesnt like him back plain and simple.

  4. The major conflict in my book "the test" is when Liselle has a crush on this guy Oscar. She does the imposible in order to get his attention. Until one day she goes over to his house and Oscar pressures her to have sex with him,she refuses feels uncomfortable and wants to leave. Because in her mind she knows that's wrong and even if she did it she knew she had to be protected sex.Oscar said it was OK until the next time then. But since she liked him she made the wrong decision and said it was OK that it dident matter if he had a condom or not. As a result she got pregnant. She had an external conflict with herself whether to tell oscar and his mom or not. And how she was going to take care of the baby and overcome all the new obstacles that life brought her.

  5. The major conflict on the book "The Hunger Games" so far is when a little girl get choosen to be on a deadly hunger games and her older sister doesn't want her to be their so she voleentered to take her place. And now she is on risk on losing her life and not seeing the people she loves dearly. The conflict is occuring from District 12 to a place where people get treated differently than where sh is. They get food very good food, dressed dffently. In discrict 12 its hard getting good stuff. The conflict is occuring because it all started when her little sister got choosen and now a guy she dislikes got choosen as the male guy. Now she has to be in it while he is in it. This story doesn't really get to real life but theirs times where people you dont like as to be involved something you in and it's hard living it like that.

  6. The conflict in the book "Paper Towns" by John Green is that Q, whose real name is Quentin but known as Q discovers that this girl he likes has gone missing. With the help of his friends Radar and Ben, he goes and looks for clues. Margo Roth Spiegelman is the name of the girl who ran away. Her mother insists that she leaves behind clues that leads to nowhere, but Q knows that the clues do lead to somewhere. This conflict is internal, because Margo doesn't know that Q likes her and Q is desperately looking for her so he can eventually show her that he likes her. This conflict mirrors real life because it displays how guys do what ever they have to do in order to show how much a person means to them. Quentin is desperately looking for her, because he wants her to know how he feels about her.

  7. The major conflict of the novel "Dear Zoe," is that Tess lost her baby step sister. What doesn't help with theis conflict is her parents are divorced. Her mom is still depressed after 9 months. All she does is stay home and sleep. Which means Tess doesn't get to talk to her as much as she did. Tess didn't know what to do so she stayed at her dads for a while. So she doesn't get to see her mom or David(stepdad). She also never gets to see her other younger step sister anymore. Which is hard cause they were really close. All these little conflicts are all connected to her little step sister dying. They are all external conflicts besides the thought of knowing your little sister died. This conflict mirrors real life because conflicts like these do happen in real life and it's not easy to get through. We could learn that everyone goes through conflicts and they aren't easy to get over but it's not impossible.

  9. In the book Sunrise over Fallujah, the conflict of the story is there is a group of American soldiers that have never been in a war before in the front lines of Iraq that have been hit with a bunch of horrible things like theyre squad mates have been taken hostage and the enemy has taken the squad leader and some other soldiers captive. Then the people started killing the captives and then they were done. This is an external conflict because it is physically hurting people and it is caused by a disagreement between two countries. This book doesnt mirror real life because it is real life, this is a real conflict. We can learn that we should live our lives as if we are not going to make it to tomorrow because the soldiers woke up and were being executed in front of their families over CNN. Some of them didnt have a clear concience and were thinking about thatas they died. I think it is a great lesson to learn for everyone.

  10. In my book "Zombies Vs. Unicorns" the major comflict is whether zombies or unicorns are better. The People invloved are two groups of girls. One group is team zombies lead by Justine Larbalestier. The other is team unicorn which is lead by Holly Black. This conflict is occuring because all through out time people have argued to see whether zombies or unicorns are better. This conflict is external. This argument mirrors real life becuase these girls are standing up for ehat they think is better or what is right and in real life thats what most wars are about. We can learn that we should all stand up for what we think is right or better.

  11. In the book "Matched", the conflict of the book is that Cassia was matched with two people and now she doesn't know which one could be. The people involved in the conflict are Cassia, Xander, and Ky. The conflict is occurring wherever they go to hang out all three of them. It is occurring because Cassia got matched with Ky a few days after she was matched with Xander. This conflict is external. The book can mirror real life because maybe it can happen to someone who does not know who to pick between two people who mean something to her. It could also be that someone is having a hard time on choosing what is best. From this conflict we can learn that it is hard to choose what is best for ourselves. We can also learn that it is not always easy to decide between that matter to you the most.

  12. In my book "story of a girl" there are many conflict like for example deanna is starting to like her bestfriend "jason" but jason is going out with one of her others bestfriend who she met in the gym class named lee and theirs another conflict in the story when stacy leaves her baby girl behind and she ditch home and she doesnt get back which in that case deanna has to watch april because her mother goes missing whom nobody knows where she is. and deanna's dad doesnt trust her anymore because of what he cought her doing and he has more suspicious on her and deanna's boss named michael because sometimes he drops her home and her dad thinks they might do something bad like when he cought her in the back of the car with tommy.

  13. In my book "Uglies" there are many conflicts. One of them is that Tally still hasn't told David and everyone else the truth about why she really came to the Smoke. No one knows that she was a spy for Special Circumstances. This conflict involves everyone in the Smoke because she is lying to them. If she just told everyone the truth about her, they could have helped her and the Smoke would have never been destroyed and no one would have been captured. The conflict is external because Tally is the cause of why the whole city of Smoke is found. We can learn that lying never helps and betraying friends is terrible. You learn that lying can get you in big trouble, and if you just tell the truth people will understand.

  14. In my book "touching spirit bear" the main conflict is inside Cole's head. he blames everyone else instead of him, the Spirit bear may seem like the conflict, but in fact it's trying to resolve this conflict with Cole. Cole must learn to forgive others and understand that the problems that occur are from himself. not only forgiving others, Cole must learn to forgive himself. This happens very often in people that i know, including myself, blaming other people instead of yourself. Over the years i've learned how to master forgiving others including myself

  15. In the book you dont even know me the conflict is how people get judged on by others because of their actions or their looks. This happens to the main charecter(s) in the stories troughout the book.People always judge or get judged on overy day just like in the book. But I tink we should learn from this and stop the judging because you know their name not their story.

  16. In my Book "Sharp Shot" the conflict is that Jade and Rich's Dad was a secret agent for the government. He has a partner named McCain, and he is in trouble for gambling problems. So McCain has all the children involved because his father is away on a "trip". The conflict did occur at Rich and Jade's house then they were being chased into a amusement park. I believe this is a external conflict because no one in the book is being hurt mentally. The conflict mirrors real life because people do get in deep trouble when they do not stay true to there debts. The lesson learned is that always stay truthful and do not runaway from your problems.

  17. In the book "Sold" the main conflict is that this girl has to leave her family to go find a job. The conflict is occurring in house. This conflict is occurring because there was a monsoon that messed up there house so her stepdad told her she needed to go to India to go find a good paying job. This conflict is external because her father is making her leave her mom and brother so she can go find a job so she can help support her parents and brother. This conflict can mirror someone who can't afford something that they need so they need help from somebody so they can get the things they need. I think we can learn from this I'd that there are so many people out there who need help with getting something but there not getting the help they need.

  18. In my book "son of the Mob" the main character has an external conflict and loves his girlfriend but his family's line of work puts a huge strain on his relationship by splitting him up with her and he decides to try to forget about her and find a new girl but he knows that wont happen.

  19. The major conflict in my book “Touching Spirit Bear” is Cole having to be sent to a lonely island. They sent him over there instead to jail because Garvey wants Cole to change just like Garvey did. Garvey was once just like Cole he was mean rude and cruel but one day he learned to be nice and he doesn’t want Cole to experience what Garvey had done when he was young. So far what I have read Cole has been turning a bit good each day he cares about these birds that were in a storm and he wants to make sure they are okay.

In my book "right behind you" the conflict going on now is about this 10 year old burning down a kid and he has to go to juvenile prison and in that prison he fights alot of older guys and is a potty mouth to all the security and his social worker. Once it was time to get out he has to start a new life with a new name and new place to live because where he used to live everyone knew what he did and it was spread globaly.

  21. the major conflict in my book is weather this american sniper Chris Kyle will take someones life in the book is says that his first ever kill was on a n Iraqi woman that was running at american troops, she had a hand grenade in one hand and a baby in the other. Chris is contemplating what to do and having to run it through in him mind that woman's life or the lives of several american marines. this in an internal conflict that is happening within the main charectors mind. this is a real life conflict involving real people. i think that we can learn that our morals and what we believe will be important at some point and that we need to have strong morals.

  22. The major conflict in my story is that this girl was kidnaped by a guy in France and she fell “in love” with his look and words he told her .Did so many things to her and wants to desperately go home. It mirrors real life because in a moment you can talk to a stranger and give all your personal information and be kidnaped. Not to trust or talk to strangers.

  23. In my book "boot camp" the major conflict is escaping the camp. The people involved in it are Pauly and Sarah. The conflict is external because these events are actually happening and it mirrors real life because there are kids who are actually in these camps and want to get out. From this conflict we learn how a couple friends can withstand a struggle and manage to escape.

Everyday she beats and tortures him like hes a toy or an object. She always takes her anger out on him when he never does anything wrong. This is an external conflict because the mother is the one causing the confict. The boy never gets to eat and is excluded from the family. Hes always treated like nothing
